Alternative to WordPress Category Cloud.
It is through the use of WordPress categories widget.
Updated on May 11, 2010.
For some you may prefer other option beside the use of the Category Cloud [1] . Perhaps, you like to have a drop down look drop down look [2] for your various category words. How about having each category word display in one line [3] ? Hm, look like another good idea!
Well you can use the WordPress Support – Categories Widgest [4].
When you login to your WordPress blog account, you can see the following:
1. Go to “My Dashboards” – Click the title of your blog.
2. Go to the left column of your dashboard.
3. Go to Appearance – Widgets – Categories.
4. Expand the Categories
5. You can choose to have a drop-down categories or a fixed categories display.
6. Maybe you have a few sub-topic linkd to the main topic.
7. You can click the “Show hierarchy” under the Categories Widget window and click “Save”.
8. Go to the “Post” located at the left hand colummn of My DashBoards.
9. Go to Post – Categories – Category Parent – Add Category – Category Name.
10. Finally, you decide whether to have either a drop down display of your categories words or fixed display of categories words. It is done through returning to step 7.
Some suggestion - If you have several categories and sub-categories words, you may want to consider using a drop down display.
Please note:
I do acknowledge the following :
1. There is alternative methods to present your categories word beside the one I mentioned above.
