Personal Note
Hi friends of The omniGens blog,
Over the past few years, there are many major changes across the global economy. Many are affected by the 2008 global financial crisis (alternatively known as Great Recession) and major financial institutional bailouts. There is endless announcement of retrenchment and organization restructuring. Beside these events, we are now facing a global outbreak of the H1N1 flu pandemic [1]
Many employees were retrenched or have pay cut.Even experienced skilled workers are affected by this recession. What about people with little or no working experience? Well, there’s always some very lucky ones. Some may discover their true passion and make a better living out of their hobbies.
Most Generation Y graduates, under graduates and non graduates faces the bleak career prospect upon graduation. While there is retrenchment across various age groups, some Generation Y seemed more affected by this financial tsunami.
Unlike previous economic recession like Asia financial crises [2] and the dot-com bubble burst [3], almost all business sectors and professions across the whole global economy are affected . (I do agree some specific industries, companies, corporations and individuals are doing quite well. At least, they are recovering from the financial recession.)

Before the start of financial tsunami, Generation Y seemed to have bright career prospect. There is a lot of media coverage on Generation Y, such as their potential spending power and contribution to the workforce. Now, things have changed against Generation Y flavor.
Though the global economy will eventually recover, the end is still not at sight yet. During this difficult time, we can spread the spirit of kindness by supporting one another.
